Summary of the House Committee Version of the Bill

SB 142 -- KOREAN WAR LICENSE PLATE

SPONSOR:  Childers (Robirds)

COMMITTEE ACTION:  Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee
on Motor Vehicle and Traffic Regulations by a vote of 9 to 0.

This bill allows owners of vehicles, other than owners of
apportioned motor vehicles or commercial motor vehicles in
excess of 18,000 pounds, to apply for Korean War Veteran license
plates.  Under the current law, only owners of passenger motor
vehicles or owners of non-local, property-carrying commercial
motor vehicles between 9,001-12,000 pounds may apply for a
Korean War Veteran license plate.

FISCAL NOTE:  No impact on state funds.

PROPONENTS:  Supporters say that people with larger vehicles
also want to display this plate on their vehicle.

Testifying for the bill was Senator Childers.

OPPONENTS:  There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
